How to Make Herbal Gel at Home?

The herbal gel is super easy to make at home. With its rich hydrating ingredients, it is excellent in treating many skin ailments. The herbal gel is a potent moisturizer and can battle the weather of the dry fall-winter months.

Ingredients

You will require the following ingredients:

· Almond oil – three tablespoons

Almond oil is a rich source of Vitamins A, E, and Omega 3 fatty acids. It also includes the mineral zinc. Vitamin A does not need an introduction. The retinol in it has anti-aging properties, smoothing fine lines, and is an excellent stimulant in the production of new cells. The same goes for Vitamin E and the omega 3 fatty acids that protect the skin from photodamage and prevent premature aging. The Zinc in the oil is an essential nutrient and very healing for acne or scars.

· Rosemary Essential Oil – fifteen drops

Rosemary essential oil has a thick resume – it is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and a potent antioxidant. It contains Vitamin A, C, and B6. Alongside folate, iron, calcium, magnesium, and manganese.

· Marshmallow Roots (for a cold Infusion) – one fourth (1/4) cup

Marshmallow root (Althaea Officinalis) is a recurrent herb that has been used in folk remedies for thousands of years. It is used for the treatment of digestive, respiratory, and skin conditions. Its healing powers are due to the mucilage it contains. It is most often ingested as tea.

Method

First, make the marshmallow roots cold infusion. Do this a day before making the gel. To prepare the infusion, take ¼ cup of dried marshmallow roots and one cup of water. Soak the roots in the water overnight. In the morning, filter out the marshmallow, and voila! You have your marshmallow cold infusion.

Now take all your ingredients and mix them in a bowl.

Application

Use this as a hydrating gel or sleeping mask. You will be amazed at how hydrated and supple your skin feels after a single application.

Benefits of Herbal Gel

Due to the potent ingredients that it is made up of, the herbal gel has various marvelous benefits for the skin.

Anti-aging

All the ingredients used in the herbal gel are anti-aging, so it is no surprise that the gel smooths out fine lines and wrinkles. The plant-based oils penetrate deep into the skin, giving you soft, supple, hydrated, and radiant skin.

Anti-inflammatory

Rosemary and almond oil are both very potent anti-inflammatories. They help ease swelling in the skin and visibly reduce puffiness and under-eye circles. They both also improve blood circulation and give your skin a healthy glow. Rosemary oil, in particular, also reduces inflammation caused by acne as it is also antibacterial in nature. Likewise, the marshmallow root also helps calm down irritated skin. It is extremely beneficial when it comes to treating skin ailments like eczema and dermatitis.

Hydrating

Almond oil and the mucilage from marshmallow root make this herbal gel extremely hydrating. Both of these have been used for centuries to treat eczema and psoriasis. It has the capabilities to be used as a healing gel. Consistent topical application to affected areas will help relieve symptoms and reduce flare-ups. Likewise, if you have dry skin, this herbal gel is a potent moisturizer. Come winter, the herbal gel will act as a shield against dry, moisture-less hair.

Boosts Radiance

The nutrients present in both almond oil and rosemary oil work on reviving and rejuvenating dull skin. The antioxidants in both ingredients help fight free radical damage. The mineral nutrients and fatty acids work in harmony to restore the lost glow. Similarly, the marshmallow root repairs the appearance of skin that has been subjected to photodamage by the sun.

Maintains Suppleness

The three potent ingredients are extremely rich emollients. This perfect blend works together to lock in moisture in your skin and maintain its hydration. They penetrate deep into the layers of the skin to hold moisture, resulting in a youthful glow and lasting suppleness.

Ultra-Nourishing

Almond and rosemary oil are both nutrient-dense. They plump the skin with essential nutrients, leaving it radiant and soft.

Improves Overall Skin Health

These three ingredients are some of nature's finest hydrators. Their emollient properties help to improve the complexion and tone of your skin.

Fights Acne

The fatty acids in almond oil help maintain the balance of natural oils on your skin by dissolving excess oil. Furthermore, the retinoids in almond oil help reduce acne and scarring from acne. It also helps improve cell turnover rate.

Bottom Line

Plant-based skincare is far more beneficial to the skin than most commercial products. Herbal gels like these are friendly on all skin types and have minimum chances of irritating skin or bringing forth an allergic reaction. It is safe to use and easy to make. You'll be surprised by the visible difference in your skin and make this a staple in your skincare routine.
