Fall Recipe Whipped Body Butter

First of all, I am MIA lately because a lot going on in the backend of Glow & Green. We are launching Green-Beauty Co a product line exclusively made out of unwanted food waste. I will have a detailed blogpost on that…. But after a month-long break from blogging, I want to kick start my blogging journey again with some DIY project. And how about start with my fall favorite Body Butter.

Fall is a season often identified with cold air and long walks. However, it does not take long for the same air to cut through your skin resulting in dry and flaky patches. Often times the modern day packaged moisturizers fail to provide any help in that case. Hence, this is where a good whipped body butter comes jumps in. The whole process of making the whipped body butter and then using it gives a cozy vibe to fall season and amplifies the joy of making something from scratch.

While a consumer has a plethora of choices to choose from in the market, whipped home-made body butter will always be unmatchable. Whipped body butter is usually richer and denser than the regular over the counter body cream or moisturizer, which makes it ideal for sensitive and dry skin. Moisturizer and Lotion contains 90% of the water in their formula, while homemade whipped body butter contains 0% water. It’s more potent, pure and rich in texture.

Apart from moisturizing the skin, whipped body butter can be used in several ways. Here are a few:

1. Use instead of body oil

Apply it to your whole body butter as body oil. The ideal time to apply whipped body butter is just after your regular shower or bath when your skin is still wet. Using wide massage strokes, apply a generous amount of butter.

2. Use as a hair mask

Rejuvenate those locks! Fall and harsh winds can make your hair dry easily. So, you may also benefit from natural body butter. Simply slather it onto hair tips and then wash away with it warm water, dry it, and enjoy smooth, tangled free hair.

3. Treat skin conditions

Your home-made whipped body butter can be a great remedy if you suffer from any skin condition such as eczema or atopic dermatitis. Apply it to the required area before you go to bed and wake up to a healthy and happy skin.

4. Use as a lip balm

Use it to moisturize your lips. Dry and windy weather can often make your lips parched. A generous layer of your homemade whipped body butter may do wonders to patchy lips! Make sure you have added wax in it.

5. Use for dry elbows/knees

Body butters are excellent for dry elbow and knee areas. Keep a small pot in your purse, in your desk drawer, or even in your bedroom cabinet so you can soothe your skin at any moment.

7. Use as a hand cream

If you have extremely dry hands then your homemade whipped body butter will be your best friend. Enjoy supple soft hands after using it as a hand cream.

8. Use for cuticle care

The most effective cuticle saver is your whipped body butter. You don't need to use any additional cuticle care products. Simply massage a little bit into each cuticle and enjoy your fragrant, moisturized fingers.

9. Heal cracked heels

Massage your cracked heels with body butter. To soften your skin, use body butter shortly before going to bed. For a better outcome, wear cotton socks overnight. Your heels will feel silky soft when you wake up.

10. Get rid of stretch marks

Stretch marks and scars are often treated using body butters. Natural body butters are rich in vitamins and fatty acids, which assist to nourish and rejuvenate your skin while also improving the appearance of your skin.

11. Use it after you shave

Soothe legs that have just been shaved. Is your skin in urgent need of hydrating after a shave? Simply warm a little amount of body butter between your hands and massage it into your skin, beginning at your ankles and working your way up to your thighs. Your skin will not only be smooth again, but it will also remain moisturized throughout the day.

To nourish your skin, there are a lot of natural ingredients that you can add to your whipped body butter and provide a natural barrier to your skin. Let’s have a look at the recipe.

Whipped Body Butter FAQs

How long is shelf life of homemade body butter?

Ideally, homemade body butter should not be put in harsh temperatures such as cold or hot. It should be stored at 60-80 degree F. Body butter shelf life is around 3-6 months if kept away from moisture and light. Dip the body butter using a wooden spoon or spatula rather than your fingers to prolong the life of the product.

How can body butter be made to be less greasy?

Although body butter is more emollient and has a thicker texture than lotion, it will absorb into the skin and its greasy sensation will be completely eliminated within a few minutes. Also, generally whipped body butter is considered less greasier than the OTC lotions but adding arrowroot powder to the recipe can help in alleviating the oily feel.

Can I add mica or natural colorant inside the body butter?

Yes, of course. If you add natural color then just make sure that it is oil soluble. I added annatto seed infused oil which serves as a natural colorant.
