Facial Oil Serums for All Skin Types

When it comes to oil on our skin, I have seen, we women always get worried that our skin might get breakouts if we use oils exclusively on our faces. And while it is a real possibility that you might get extreme acne and breakout if you don’t use the right kind of facial oil according to your skin health. So today’s blog post is all about creating facial oils for all skin types. I promise, with these recipes, your skin will glow.

Face oils provide vital complement the natural oils contained while it also adds an extra layer of protection from free radicals As they’re able to deeply penetrate into the skin, they trap moisture inside. That's why I felt facial oils are great barrier product which keep toxins out by strengthening the skin barrier. Along with extra hydration, our skin needs fatty acids, and oils are the best source to get it.

But now your question could be: which oil is suitable for my skin type? And, of course, we don’t want to smell oily, so I follow a specific process in oil selection.

How to select face oil for your face?

So, here are my criteria to select oils:

AROMA

Typically, We like face oils that are either odorless or have mild fruity, sweet aromas. The aromas all depend on which nut or seed they are retrieved. Plum Kernel Oil contains a charming fruity aroma, while fractionated coconut oil is odorless oil. Are derived.

METHOD OF EXTRACTION:

The ideal face Oil for use in natural products needs to be a Cold Pressed (Raw), Organic, Unrefined, Extra Virgin oil. So what is all about unrefined, filtered, and cold-press? That means those oils will have been filtered to eliminate dust or small particles without compromising the oil’s nutrients, vitamins, and fatty acids. That’s the main thing we need when we create our own facial oil.

CONSISTENCY AND ABSORPTION

Many of us have a bad vibe about facial oil because we don’t want to feel greasy after use; instead, we want to feel luxurious. That’s why it is essential to choose facial oil based on viscosity and finding out about your skin health/type. If you are dealing with oily skin, a high absorption rate will be an important factor, while rich oils are needed if you are dealing with dry skin.

NATURAL FATTY ACIDS AND TOCOPHEROLS

In general, facial oil serums contain natural, restorative fatty acids which provide nourishing and moisturizing properties. These are the substances that offer regenerative and stimulating properties to promote the look and feel of younger, fresher, and supple skin. Facial oils also contain tocopherols such as Vitamin E. Vitamin E restricts the oil from going rancid; some oils are self-preserving.

SHELF LIFE

Since we are doing DIYs, it is vital to find out facial oil’s shelf life. Some facial oils that are high in unsaturated fatty acid content it has a shorter shelf. To maintain an oil’s quality and maximize its shelf life, it should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. It shouldn’t be exposed to the sun.

Facial Oils with natural antioxidant properties, such as those with high Vitamin E or Lauric Acid content, have longer shelf lives (i.e., coconut oil). These constituents either protect the oil against oxidation or slow down the process.

How to Use Face Oil Serum

Step 1: First Remove Makeup with Oil Cleanser or Cleansing Balm (DIY Cleansing Balm recipe here, or we got a great product in our Glow & Green Skincare product line! Stay tuned for more details).

Step 2: Cleanse your face with a gel/foam cleanser (any soap-based cleaner will work, but I love castile soap).

Step 3: use a facial toner to remove trace of cleanser and balances skin pH (here is the recipe for 3 facial toners here).

Step 4: Apply a little bit of facial oil serum to the forehead, each cheek, and chin.

Step 5: slowly massage in using soft upward storks. Use Kansa Wand massage.

Store a facial oil serum bottle in a cool, dark place.

THE BASICS of Facial Oils

Face oils are typically made of three elements: carrier oil, essential oil, and an antioxidant. A carrier oil will be the body of your product, while the essential oil will give a pleasant, luxurious aroma. An antioxidant will help fat not to go rancid.

How to mix: The general rule is for every 1 oz of carrier oil, you can use 1 drop of essential oil. Essential oils are very potent, and some of the essential oils can not apply topically. That’s why you can mix with a different carrier oil and get all the therapeutic qualities of essential oil.
